Our Doctors recommend breastfeeding your baby for your baby’s health and yours. They are here to support you, along with lactation consultants in the community to help you succeed and help babies thrive.


When helpful, Dr. Abraham is able to do releases of tongueties and lipties to help babies having feeding difficulties or causing mother’s pain. She is an advocate of the lactation consultant’s role before and after a release. Not every baby needs a procedure, and latch troubleshooting and adjustments may be what the baby needs. Dr. Abraham uses a laser that is designed for the soft parts of the mouth to remove extra tissue with minimal or no bleeding. After the procedure, the family does stretches to keep the tissue from reattaching.

Dr. Elizabeth Abraham MD, MS is double board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric nephrology. She holds a master’s degree in clinical research. She founded St. Teresa Pediatrics after serving on the faculty at the St. Louis University School of Medicine. She is also a certified in pediatrics and is a certified lactation specialist (CLS). As a CLS, she works in collaboration with lactation consultants and pediatric speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to optimize breastfeeding success.
